The FIRST African American President of the United States of America!
Election results are in. Barack Hussein Obama is our new Presidential elect! WooHoo! I say ‘woohoo’ not because I voted for him, I didn’t, but because I think ‘we’ as a nation are in for a great education with him. Let me explain.
This last year in between work and home I watched and listened to news, radio and internet the struggle for power that this election results would provide. As the Hillarys, Huckabees and the Mitts fell to the wayside I knew, in my gut, the way it would go. It was going to be a Democrat year, the stage was set. McCain was no formable opponent for Obama, which was obvious at the starting line. But I assumed, rather wrongly, that this nation was not a racist nation and that Obama, although he’s considered to be African American, that it would play no real role in his elect ability. I assumed that people in this day and age would look at his policies, his politics and by them, measure the man. But early on, that proved not to be the case.
The thought or concept of the first African American President was simply too much for people to ignore. We wanted it. We needed it. At last, we have it. And I think it’s great! Not because it’s Obama. Not because he’s the first. But because I truly believe, I TRULY believe…that your race and your gender have NOTHING to do with your ability or lack of ability to lead! It shouldn’t have any bearing on whether or not someone is elected. But obviously, in America, today, it does. And the results of this election show that. It puts the spotlight on the fact that people across America chose a candidate not for his flawed, outdated, all ready been tried and failed policies, but because of the color of his skin. And racism is truly alive and well in America today.
After Obama’s speech last night people were crying, weeping, stammering into the mic’s about how we were witnessing history in the making! Jesse Jackson was shown with tears in his eyes…The cover of newspapers, internet sites proclaim: “The First African American President!” And I’m thinking….I don’t get it? Aren’t ‘we’ supposed to be ‘color’ blind? As I watched the news last night, listening to one of the commentators, they flashed the screen to a group of ‘African Americans’ holding signs, years ago, that read: “I am a Man.” I am a man…..a MAN! That was their protest. That was their fight. To be regarded, treated, not based on the color of their skin, but as men. Yet today, the headlines read: “The First African American President!” And I can’t help but wonder…have we accomplished anything?
If you remove the RACE from the headline, folks, you have no headline! We’ve simply elected another Democrat to office! Big deal!
But you read the online blogs, you check out the news, you listen to the radio, people are just ‘jazzed’ because he’s the first African American to hold the office. Never mind his policies! Never mind his leanings to socialism! (No one really knows or remembers what that is anyway!) Never mind he’s been elected for all the wrong reasons! He’s the FIRST! And I think it’s great…I think voting based on that is the ultimate in racism and the irony in all this is greatly amusing! Martin Luther King Jr. is probably rolling over in his grave. Over 40 years and Americans still can’t make a decision on a man without first looking at the color of his skin!
Economics 101: Supply and Demand
If demand outweighs your supply, you’re done! Example: If you have 100 people working and they each make $100. $50 of that $100 they get to keep but the other $50 is taken in the form of taxes and is given to people who do not earn $100. There are 500 people who do not make $100 and so are eligible to receive a $50 check. (Can you see where I’m going with this or do you need me to do the math?) Let’s do the math! $50 x 100 people who earn a hundred dollars equals $5000 available dollars to give to people who don’t earn $100. There are 500 people who do not earn $100 remember? But all should get a $50 check. So, 500 x $50 equals, what? $25,000….twenty five thousand dollars! Equals…some people aren’t getting a check! Supply and demand, not enough $100 money makers to supply the 500 people that makes up the demand! Get it? So, how does that apply to policy? Well, Social Security comes to mind, illegal immigration comes to mind, and socialized healthcare comes to mind. But hey, who cares! Right? We now have the FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT! Who believes that by increasing regulation and taxation on business, BUSINESS, the very ones that pay the majority of all current taxes, in an already struggling economy, he can provide more handouts and transfer payments. What a great ‘rose colored glasses’ way to view the world!
If the government as it is today, functions on taxes collected from its citizens, and roughly 5% of its citizens are business owners that pay the majority of all the taxes, does it make any sense to penalize that 5% and make them pay more? True? Untrue? Let’s see…If I work at McDonalds and I pay, let’s say, $100 a month in taxes that are deducted from my paycheck but at the end of the year when I file my tax return, because of tax breaks and deductions, etc. my refund check is $2000 have I paid any taxes?
Um…no? I’m not great at math, maybe someone can explain to me how that works? ‘Cause it would appear to me that low income earners, based on that analogy, don’t pay taxes. Or at best, pay very little in taxes. But we’re taught to despise the rich and increase their taxes? And give more tax breaks to low income earners (who don’t pay any taxes)? …I don’t get it? Why will we loan money to low income people to buy a home and increase their debt but will deny them a small business loan that would actually give them a shot at making more money?
(Money saving tip:)Hey, here’s a thought! Why don’t we teach low income earners to save money on their paychecks each month and show them how to give themselves a raise! That’s right! A raise! Instead of letting good ‘ol Uncle Sam borrow your money every month and then give it back to you at the end of the year in a lump sum without paying interest on it, you can change you’re W-4 that your employer has you fill out at work to increase your monthly take home each month and reduce the size of the tax return you get back at the end of the year! Think about it! For some people that could mean an extra $200 a month raise in income! (Contact your C.P.A. or Bookkeeper and have them show you how to do this!)
Surely, you could use that, right? Maybe put that money towards that health insurance you’ve been waiting for your employer or the government to pay for, eh? Just a thought…or hey! Maybe towards that education you always wanted to get but for some reason just couldn’t get the government grants to cover it! Now we’re talkin’, better job and better pay! Then you can make enough money to be hated and regarded as selfish and be taxed heavily so you can pay for the people who choose to spend their money on beer and pizza! Sound great!? It should! THAT’S the President Elects policy!
Supply and Demand. Pretty basic. Increase taxes on the government ordained ‘rich’. Increase government programs that deal in transfer payments (welfare, socialized medicine, subsidized housing, etc.), and guess what? Demand will outweigh supply = crap!
Obama received the word of his Presidency yesterday, today the stock market took a huge drop over so called Obama woes, um ya! Duh! People are pulling their cash! Can you blame them? They’re facing a President elect that intends on stifling business with excessive regulation and taxation! As an investor, you only make money when the business that is using you’re money is making money and able to pay out as a dividend. And businesses WANT to pay dividends; it means their making money and their investors will invest more! But when excessive regulation and taxation reduces the profitability of a business or puts it in a loss, guess what?
As an investor, you lose money! So you work and save and work and save so some President elect can rob you of your hard earned money? Um…hell no! You’d pull it, and then be labeled selfish.
When businesses start struggling and closing the ‘market’, the ‘economy’ comes to a screeching halt! Unemployment rises, numbers of loans in default go up and the number of people on government assistance increase! Which is a good thing, if you’re a Democrat - that’s their voting base! They really want to give you more ‘help’. Cause when your on their payroll….well, your not gonna vote yourself out of a monthly entitlement check are you? Kind of insidious, isn’t it?
And trust me right now I’m really not a big fan of the Republican party either! They had control over the House, the Senate and the Presidency for nearly eight years and yet Social Security, Illegal Immigration, Tort Reform, etc. are still a frickin’ issue! And their contribution to the housing debacle still pisses me off! But seriously, who are you gonna vote for? What party are you going to pick? As a registered voter you’ve really got two choices: The Republican Party, that knows what to do to stimulate and grow the economy and protect a nation - but doesn’t. Or a Democrat Party that is clueless in basic economics and systematically dismantles our military every frickin’ time one of those bastards are in office! What? Go Green? Pick a third party candidate? Why? They HAVE NO MONEY! They have no funding! They have no backing at all, from anyone! By voting for a third party candidate right now your essentially not voting! You might as well just stay home on Election Day! I’d LOVE to see a third party candidate get on the ballot and pull a full third of the votes. Love it. But until the people with the purse strings get serious it isn’t going to happen. Sad, but true. Maybe sometime in the near future blow horns like Michael Savage, radio commentator on the West Coast, who is a proudly registered Independent and Bill O’Reilly, of the O’Reilly Factor, also a proudly registered Independent, will get off their stools and put their money where their mouth is and bring us a third party candidate worth voting for! It takes cold hard cash, people! Third party candidates don’t get radio time, they don’t get news time, their not even on the debate floor! They get a one liner on the ballot, so what! So right now, voting for a third party candidate is a throw away vote. And both Democrats and Republicans are losing potential votes because of it. Neither of which I would care about if we truly had a legitimate third party candidate worth voting for.
People are looking to Obama in hopes of a new country, a country of hope, a vast and wondrous future, sadly its not. It’s more of the same policies and programs, processes and procedures that have been tried and failed. This time, however, it came in a slightly different colored package.
Thanks! Nice post.

Lol! Thanks for noticing! Focus on the content….if you can! LOL!
It doesn’t matter if talk show hosts or other influential “independents” decide to support a third party. The way the election laws in the U.S. are set up a third party has no chance to get established. There is no way for a third party candidate to mount a successful campaign on a national level because of the reasons mentioned in the article. Even on the state level though, the combination of gerrymandering, single member districts, and a plurality vote deciding the winner make establishing a third party almost impossible. I personally think the problem is democracy, but thats a whole other issue.
The more “air time”, pundit talk shows, publicity, etc. that third party candidates get the better chances we will have in getting some of this crazy stuff changed. Major pundits not acknowledging third party candidates only adds to our frustrations of not having them. There will be no “outcry” for current laws to be changed until its an issue on a national level. That “outcry” will be spurred by the media.
